Aspiring aviators coming together to explore the thrilling world of gliding.
The University Soaring Society (USS) at Toronto Metropolitan University is where aspiring aviators students come together to explore the thrilling world of gliding.
university Soaring society's websiteAt Youth Flight Canada, we are committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation of aviators. Your generous donation plays a vital role in supporting our mission to provide unique and enriching flight experiences to youth across the country. All USS members participate in a specialized simulator training program, which has been proved to reduce the average number of flights to solo from between 35-45 to 25.
In order to ensure that our students receive the best possible simulator training, we use Condor with specialized lessons according to the SAC (Soaring Association of Canada) manual and standards. This is coupled with live video streams connecting students with instructors. In order to provide an immersive training session, a Meta Oculus headset is used as well.
Students from the USS reached great heights in the soaring endeavors due to generous donations. All six students achieved solo soaring status this season, and are progressing towards their licenses. A new group of students will be selected for the upcoming flying season.
In the coming years, we aim to provide current and future students with funding and support to achieve their aviation goals. After becoming licensed, students will work towards their soaring badges, flying passengers, and eventually become instructors themselves.
